The 2026 Vuelta a Espana officially got underway. Tadej Pogacar secured top spot in stage one. He finished in front of a group of three British riders. Brennan earned his first Vuelta stage victory. This happened after Wout van Aert tried to go ahead on a solo attack. Pogacar managed to catch Van Aert and countered his move.
