Basketball fans honoured Kobe Bryant on 23 August 2026. He would have turned 50. News outlets ran stories about his best games and his trainer style. Nike re-released the Kobe 10 trainers with modern tweaks for the occasion. The Ferris wheel at Santa Monica Pier lit up in purple and gold shades.
Fans posted touching posts online. Fellow athletes shared their respects as well. Bryant passed away in a fatal accident in January 2020. His daughter Gianna was also killed as well. Seven other people lost their lives in that same crash.
