A seven-year-old boy was stranded on Mount Fuji after his father and brother pushed ahead.
The child stayed alone on a slope while the rest of the family pushed to the end.
Emergency search teams started looking early on a Saturday after the group did not come back.
Rescuers spotted the boy a short distance from the top, and he was immediately moved to a hospital.
