A sudden cold front brought the first snow of the season to Montana this October. Safety alerts and notices remained in effect while the weather hit the area. The ice led to crashes and held up commuters. Winter enthusiasts found early-season powder after the storm and posted videos of the conditions online. One dog showed strangely to the white flakes. Sunshine returned to the area as the mercury rose slowly. The event marks the start of the winter weather for the state.
