Dame Judi Dench has publicly criticized Petco for alleged bird abuse. The actor, known for her fondness for parrots, accused the retailer of sourcing birds from breeders who kept them in tight and unclean spaces. Dench called for an end to selling birds at Petco, citing PETA's exposure of animal cruelty in breeding facilities. The criticism comes as Dench has been vocal about her love for parrots and the humane treatment of animals.
