Italian soccer officials met with Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola face to face to consider taking over from Roberto Mancini as national team coach.

The meeting included technical staff with board members Paolo Maldini and Leonardo.

Despite continued English media speculation regarding a Premier League return, Guardiola apparently showed minimal personal desire for the role.

He previously indicated his hesitation to take on the job amidst reports of interest from Italy.
