A GB News presenter has been ordered to pay damages to a Green Party deputy leader for making false claims about disorder at Harehills. The deputy leader won the defamation case, with the court ruling that the presenter's allegations were untrue and awarding substantial damages. The decision comes after the presenter's social media posts accused the deputy leader of inciting violence during a protest. The court found that the presenter's claims were not supported by evidence. The deputy leader's legal team argued that the presenter's posts were unjustified. The judge agreed, stating that the presenter's actions were unacceptable. The damages awarded were considered substantial. The case highlights the importance of responsible journalism. The presenter may appeal the decision, but for now, the deputy leader has secured a victory. The incident has sparked discussions about the consequences of false allegations. The Green Party has expressed pride in the outcome, while GB News has yet to comment on the ruling.
