An hobbyist observer using Google Maps located a big rounded depression in northern Quebec. Staff at Quebec’s geological survey verified it is a massive meteorite impact crater dating back 390 million years near Lake Mistassini. The scar on the landscape closely matches other confirmed craters and points to a violent prehistoric strike. Satellite images were compared in detail field data to confirm the result.
