On July 6, Canada’s federal public servants began working in workplaces five days a week. The mandate started without a well‑defined plan for how to make it happen. Unions said offices lack adequate space and resources for everyone to return. They also said the administration gave no evidence that working in offices extra days makes things improved for the public.
The authority argued the changes will assist small businesses get increased government contracts. Public service workers and press reporters still question if offices are ready for so many people.
