FDNY fire marshals are currently investigating a suspicious fire that required three alarms. It swept through a blocks-long scrap yard in Staten Island. The site was at Rector Street and Castleton Avenue. Dramatic clips were posted online, capturing flames and smoke rising high above the site.
In a separate event, a fire broke out at an auto body repair shop in Staten Island. Fire marshals have not said whether these two incidents are connected. No additional details have been provided at this time.
