Latest News About Airline payouts: Qantas settles $105m, Virgin keeps $93m

Qantas has issued letters or emails to customers to about one million Australian customers.

The communication details a $105 million settlement for flights that were cancelled in the pandemic period.

The airline reports the payout will be distributed to eligible passengers who booked in 2020 and will be completed over the next few weeks shortly.

On that day, Virgin Australia revealed it still holds $93 million in unused flight credits still dormant.

The sum was disclosed as the airline’s chief executive received a salary increase in the latest review.

Virgin has not yet announce any plan to release the credits for now.
